
Clutch valve 6-speed SMG
The clutch solenoid valve (marked with “QPV”) is responsible for the clutch actuation of the SMG system. A faulty valve can cause problems while engaging the clutch (for example shuttering) and in consequence the car refuses to change gears.
This is an original and new Magneti Marelli spare part.

Control unit 6-speed SMG
The basic control unit (German “Steuergerät”, “SG”) is the main computer chip responsible for the control of the 6-speed SMG.
Please mind: the product photo is just a sample. The reference number of the delivered control unit may vary, the unit may need programming.

Pentosin CHF 11S is especially designed for hydraulics in the automotive industry with the highest technical requirements such as in: power steering, level control, shock absorber, hydro-pneumatic suspension, stability and traction control, hydraulics for convertible tops, central lock systems, etc.
It is suitable for all extreme conditions and guarantees full performance from -40 Degree Celsius to over 130 Degree Celsius system temperature.
Pentosin CHF 11S meets DIN 51 524T3 and ISO 7308 specification standards.

Pressure accumulator 6-speed SMG
Our refurbished pressure accumulators are equipped with a filling valve and freshly filled with new nitrogen gas.
The accumulator is responsible to store the pressure of the SMG system for later access by the actuators. The piston type accumulator has two cells: one cell storing the hydraulic fluid and one cell containing a gas to create counterpressure. Both cells are separated by a moving piston. A broken accumulator causes the pump to prime permanently.

Pressure sensor 6-speed SMG
The pressure sensor measures the hydraulic pressure in the accumulator. Based on this value, the SMG enables and disables the hydraulic pump to fill up pressure. This is an original and brand-new spare part.

Pump motor 6-speed SMG
The pump motor drives the gear pump, which generates the pressure for the SMG transmission. Both parts together form the hydraulic pump. Without hydraulic pressure, the transmission cannot perform any action – neither change gears, nor operate the clutch. Therefore, the hydraulic pump is the most important component in the system.
In most cases, it is sufficient to replace only the electric motor, as this is a wearing part. The gear pump fails only very rarely. Another advantage is that when only the pump motor is changed, the hydraulic system does not need to be bled afterwards, unless it has been opened.

Pump relay 6-speed SMG E46
The pump relay is responsible to turn on / off the hydraulic pump of the SMG system. A broken relay causes the pump to fail priming. Without hydraulic pressure, the system cannot engage the clutch or change gears.

This sensor is located on top of the gearbox and responsible to monitor the shift process.

Selection valve 6-speed SMG
The selection solenoid valve (marked with “OOV”) is responsible to move the gear selector sideways to select the gear pairs. In the case of failure of this valve, the car will refuse to go into one or more gears.
This is an original and new Magneti Marelli spare part.

Shift sensor 6-speed SMG
This sensor is located on top of the gearbox and responsible to monitor the shift process.

Shift valve 6-speed SMG
The shift solenoid valves (marked with “PPV”) are responsible for changing the gears of the SMG system. There are two of these valves on the hydraulic unit. Together with the selection valve, they operate the shift actuator. If one of the valves is faulty, the car will refuse to go into one or more gears.
This is an original and new Magneti Marelli spare part.

Transmission speed sensor 5- / 6-speed SMG
This sensor provides the speed signal of the transmission input shaft. The speed signal is required by the SMG control unit to control the transmission system, adjusting properly the shaft speeds before engaging and disengaging the different gears.
