Temperature Sensor BMW E46 M3 SMG II
The temperature sensor is located on the hydraulic unit of the M3 SMG II and measures the temperature of the hydraulic fluid. Due to its location in a high temperature area, the sensors suffers often from damage and is a common problem.
Pump Relay BMW E46 M3 SMG II
The pump relay is responsible to turn on / off the hydraulic pump of the SMG system. A broken relay causes the pump to fail priming. Without hydraulic pressure, the system cannot engage the clutch or change gears.
